"Painting offers me the chance to celebrate light and the sensual joy derived from seeing. Good paintings are like diary pages, free from the self-editing that goes on when the painter worries what others may think. I like paintings that straddle the boundary between abstract and representational."

Luis Morris was born in 1963 in Wrexham, UK. He was educated at Nottingham University where he left his degree course in architecture in 1984 to join De La Rue as an apprentice banknote designer. Over the next thirteen years he designed currencies for several countries around the world. In 1998, he left De La Rue to become a freelance artist/illustrator where he specialised in the portrayal of tennis players and gained commissions from the Lawn Tennis Association and the All England Club, Wimbledon. In 2002 Luis obtained his diploma in Portraiture at Heatherleys School of Art. Luis is a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and has exhibited widely at galleries, fairs and institutions including the prestigious BP award at the National Portrait Gallery, London in 2007.
