About the artwork
Sibylle Waldhausen develops the figure by way of its pose, and this represents an important key to its content. Thus the figure Arrabiata represents a character study. It depicts an angry woman. Arms planted on her hips, her pose betrays her impatience. It is not entirely clear whether she is about to lose her head or will maintain control: This uncertainty triggers a feeling of discomfort in the person she faces, thus pointing to a power structure. Every work by Sibylle Waldhausen is a serial unique piece. The artist produces wax models for every single casting. Unlike other artists, she does not have a caster execute this task for her, and this enables her to personally control the results down to the tiniest nuance. She simultaneously permits herself to add small deviations, thus making every single cast of an edition into a distinctive piece.
