About the artworkObservational drawing is the starting point for Ann’s stencil-based paintings and original prints. Her images combine an eye for detail with an imaginative interpretation. Paintings and original prints are exhibited locally and internationally.
Ann Bridgesâ€™ subject matter includes recent travels to Asia, collections of objects and selected moments from everyday activities. Ann studied at Yale College and Glyndwr University, from 1995 to 1999, obtaining a First-Class Honours in Design. She specialized in illustration through drawing and printmaking.
The themes for Ann's artwork include textiles, stories, and childhood memories. Her journals and original prints are based on direct observation and daily sketchbook studies. Ann has also worked as an Artist in Residence for two years at Chester Zoo, making works based on the Aquarium, the Twilight Zone and the gardens. Residencies continue to form an important part of her practice along with commissioned work for corporate and private collections.
Ann now works from her studio in Kent. She is a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy and is represented in North Wales by Ffin y Parc Gallery, Llanwrst.
