About David Hochhauser

David Hochhauser is a London based painter, sculptor and printer. His prints often toy with medieval aesthetics, playing with the perceived but arbitrary legitimacy that is rewarded to that which is considered 'old'. By bringing the visuals of the past into the present, he aims to explore the manufacture of nostalgia, and the plasticity of memory. The monochromatic nature of relief printing presents a realm without distraction; powerful contrasts can simplify and reinforce the content of our strange times. He studied Fine Art at City & Guilds London, specialising in sculpture. He is the co founder of the Jewish artist collective Davar. He has shown work at Candid Arts Trust, Omer Tiroche Gallery and the Limmud Cultural Festival.
